Part 1: Basics of cataloging
The important parts of a book (and a movie) in terms of cataloging, what to look for in a record (is it a match)?, the basic parts of a MARC record, the correlation between the call number and the subject heading, and general guidelines for cataloging.
Part 2: Exercises & Troubleshooting
Tips for searching, and discussions on treatment (is it a book or a serial?); different edition or a reprint, what to do if there is no record? Should you edit an OCLC record? (I can also cover OCLC Connexion or CatExpress basics, too)

Robin Fay is a Metadata and Technology Librarian with over 15 years of cataloging and training experience. She has worked with academic and public libraries, the Library of Congress, the Digital Public Library of America, among others.
